Fertilisation:
- Also known as conception, is when gametes fuse to create a fully viable zygote, containing a complete set of genetic information. More specifically for humans it is when the haploid nucleus from the sperm fuses with the haploid nucleus of the egg to form a complete diploid zygote.
Implantation:
- Is the burrowing of the developing embryo into the soft spongy lining of the uterus. Many changes happen between the stages causing the whole process to take approximately 12 days until the embryo is fully implanted.
